Salto has earned its reputation for several innovative yet sensitive designs valuing user experience and relationships with surrounding urban environment and/or landscape. The office has won a number of architecture competitions in Estonia including a major business centre in the developing harbour district of Tallinn (2007), extension of the Tartu Kroonuaia School (2005), redevelopment of Tallinn Skoone bastion area with landscaped park, pedestrian shopping street and a theatre (2005), sports halls in Pärnu (2004), Paide (2006) and Tartu (2007), a county centre at Sõmeru (2004), landscaping burial grounds for Estonian architects in Tallinn (2005) and Botanical gardens of Latvian University in Riga (2007), and earned several second and third awards. Built works include single-family houses, an apartment building and the extension of Tartu Kroonuaia school; two sports halls and the business centre are under construction. Both competition works and built projects have received considerable attention in Estonian professional and general media.
Artist, born in Võru, Estonia in 1974, lives and works in Tallinn,
Estonia. He received his art education in Pärnu Sütevaka College,
graduated the Estonian Academy of Arts, Department of Sculpture in
1998, and is currently pursuing MA studies in the Estonian Academy of
Arts, Department of Interdisciplinary Arts. He has had several
personal exhibitions in galleries of Tallinn (1998, 2004, 2006, 2007),
Pärnu (2002) and Viljandi (2002) and attended at numerous group
exhibitions in Tallinn, Milan, Berlin, Moscow, Paris, Brussels,
Bolzano, Riga, Istanbul and Gdynia as well as at symposia in Estonia,
Finland, Latvia, Italy, Danmark and Norway. His work includes
sculptural objects and public sculptures as well as site-specific
performances. His work has a strong character, where sharp social
subject matter is often brought to the level of very personal
experience.

Has been working as a researcher in the Museum of Estonian Architecture (2001 – 2003) and Institute of Art History, Estonian Academy of Arts (2004 – 2006). Since 2004 editor-in-chief of the Estonian Architectural Review Ehituskunst. Has been teaching courses in art history, 20th century architecture, postwar urbanism and contemporary architecture at the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn University and Tallinn College of Enigineering. Co-organizer of international conferences „Constructed Happiness: Domestic Environment in the Cold War Era“ (Estonian Academy of Arts, May 20 – 22, 2004) and „Culture, Nature, Semiotics: Locations IV“ (Estonian Literary Museum, Estonian Academy of Arts and Estonian Semiotic Association, September 23 – 26, 2004). Commissioner, born in Tallinn, Estonia 1967. M.Arch from University of Washington, Seattle; Architecture and planning. Currently works as an adviser for architecture in the Ministry of Culture. Since 2006 the secretary general of Europan Estonia. Since 2002 a member of the Union of Estonian Architects, since 2005 member of the Steering Committee of the Union of Estonian Architects. Currently the Estonian Cultural Endowment Architectural Fund committee member; has been a jury member of architectural competitions in Estonia and Latvia.
Worked as an architect since 1993 in several architects’ offices in Estonia and in the USA; 2005-2006 architect in the Planning Department of Tallinn’s neighbour municipality Viimsi. Heads a one-architect architectural office LP Architecture Ltd., recent works include mostly single-family houses around Tallinn area and rural villages. The main focus has been interpretation of traditional farm architecture in contemporary form, an activity which has been awarded with a Union of Estonian Architects special mention award. Currently the main professional interest lies in developing a functioning architectural policy for Estonia.
